Artist Books: Concertinas, Codices, and More
For participants aged 16+
Classes require a minimum of 2 participants to go ahead. If a class you have booked does not meet the minimum, you will be offered an alternative date.
Turn paper into a canvas for storytelling. In this workshop, you'll explore the art of handmade books — from concertina folds to codex binding — while weaving in mixed-media elements to bring your narratives to life. Whether you're inspired by memory, place, or a personal theme, you'll create books that are as meaningful as they are beautiful.
Every session is shaped by my latest experiments, your ideas, and the energy of the group. No two workshops are the same. Even if you've made artist books before, you'll discover new techniques, fresh perspectives, or a deeper connection to your creative voice. That's the promise: a hands-on, evolving experience where your stories take shape.
Purpose:Introduce you to the diverse world of artist books, from simple folds to intricate bindings. You'll gain hands-on experience with paper-folding and book-making techniques, all while exploring how to infuse your work with narrative and thematic depth.
Format:A practical workshop blending demonstrations, group discussions, and dedicated time for your own creations.
Structure:We'll start with instruction on a selection of book structures, followed by guided time for you to develop your content and assemble your books.
Materials:All necessary materials—paper, folding tools, binding supplies, and decorative elements — are provided. Just bring your creativity and personal inspiration.
