Experimental Printmaking: Monotype Exploration
For participants aged 16+
Classes require a minimum of 2 participants to go ahead. If a class you have booked does not meet the minimum, you will be offered an alternative date.
Unlock the spontaneous, painterly world of monotype printmaking. This workshop is all about embracing the unexpected — where ink, pressure, and paper collide to create one-of-a-kind prints. No two pulls are ever the same, and neither are our sessions.
Every class is shaped by my latest experiments, your creative energy, and the group's dynamic. Even if you've tried monotype before, you'll discover new ways to manipulate ink, layer textures, and push the limits of this versatile medium. That's the promise: a space where curiosity leads to breakthroughs.
Purpose:Encourage you to explore monotype as a tool for bold, expressive art. Whether you're adding, subtracting, or manipulating ink, the focus is on play, discovery, and unlocking your unique visual language.
Format:Hands-on and open-ended. I'll demonstrate foundational techniques, then step back so you can experiment freely.
Structure:We'll start with the basics of monotype—ink application, plate manipulation, and printing. Then, it's your turn to innovate: layer, blend, and rework your prints to create something entirely your own.
Materials:Gel plates, inks, rollers, paper, and texturing tools are provided. Bring a notebook or sketchbook if you'd like to plan your designs in advance.
