Experimental Printmaking: Relief Exploration

For participants aged 16+

Classes require a minimum of 2 participants to go ahead. If a class you have booked does not meet the minimum, you will be offered an alternative date.

Dive into the bold, textured world of relief printmaking. This workshop is all about carving, inking, and pressing your way to striking, handcrafted prints. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, you'll explore how to turn simple materials into dynamic, layered artwork.

Every session is shaped by my latest experiments, your ideas, and the energy of the group. No two workshops are the same. Even if you've done relief before, you'll leave with new techniques, fresh perspectives, or a deeper connection to the craft. That's the promise: a hands-on, evolving creative experience.

Purpose:

Empower you to master relief printmaking — from carving blocks to pulling your first (or hundredth) print. The goal? To help you see how this traditional method can fuel your own creative breakthroughs.

Format:

Hands-on and exploratory. I'll show core techniques, then step back so you can experiment, layer, and innovate.

Structure:

We'll start with the fundamentals of relief printing, then open the floor for you to test, refine, and push your designs further. Emphasis on play, discovery, and embracing happy accidents.

Materials:

All necessary tools and materials — carving tools, linoleum/blocks, inks, rollers, and paper — are provided. Aprons are recommended to protect clothing.
